Is Spiritual Direction For Me?
Date: Wednesday, April 21, 2010
Time: 10:00am-12:00pm or 7:00pm-9:00pm Location: Brescia Hall, 3105 Lexington Road Facilitatiors: TBA Description: “I think God is trying to tell me something, but how do I know it’s not just my imagination.” “I want to get closer to God, but I really don’t know how.” “How do I pray?” “I have a really important decision to make and I want to make sure I am following God’s will.” “What’s the meaning for my life?”
Throughout the centuries people of faith and people who seek a deeper meaning for their life have sought out women and men who were willing to listen to them and help them to discover ultimate truths. Today, we call this practice spiritual direction.
A spiritual director is an individual trained in this specialized ministry. She/he will listen with compassion and without judgment as you share the events, questions, thoughts and feelings of life with the assumption that God is present in every situation of your life. The spiritual director will help you to take that “long, loving look” that enables you to become more aware of the presence of God in your life and the invitations God might be extending to you through them. |
